Okay, this is our month...hearts, flowers, candy, and a romantic evening with your sweetie. Here are a couple of recipes that take a little more effort than my usual recipes, but still easy. And, isn't he worth a little extra work? First for him...
Place steak on unheated rack of broiler pan and place in broiler so meat is 4 inches from heat. Broil about 15 minutes for rare or until desired doneness; turn halfway through cooking.
While steak is broiling, sauté mushrooms and onions in margarine in a 10 inch skillet until liquid evaporates and onion is browned. Stir in soup, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Heat through, stirring occasionally.
To serve, thinly slice meat diagonally across the grain. Spoon some sauce over meat; pass remaining sauce.
Dessert is for you. Since he'll be giving you candy (he will, won't he?), here is wonderful treat you'll both enjoy. Keep as many for the two of you as you want and use the rest to bribe your sister, your mom, whoever into keeping your kids overnight so you and your honey can... Well, I don't have to tell you where to go from here, do I?
Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Add frozen strawberries and stir until fruit thaws and separates. Fold in oranges and banana. Spoon into tart shells. Chill at least two hours. Garnish with whipped topping and fruit, if desired.
